Antique Sick Call Crucifix Candleholder Holy Water Font

This is an Antique VERY heavy, metal crucifix candle holder/holy water font that is very ornate. Perfect for your home altar. This features a very detailed rococo-style crucifix, with side candle holders and Holy Water font in front. It has a silver finish. In turning it over it appears that it was a gold metal and finished in a silver paint. I think the base metal on this may be silver plated. That is the norm with a piece like this. This likely came out of a Sick Call Outfit from the 1890’s. How do I know this? Because I have collected these in the past. It says 'I.N.R.I.' at the top of the crucifix. The candle holders accept a taper sized candle. The base of the holder has an unusual decorative detail, each different on each of the four sides. One side has the sacred heart, one a cross in a crown of thorns, one a cross, anchor and heart and finally something that looks like an urn.
In the late 1800's into the early 1900's, these Sick Call kits were used by priests. Residents kept these in their home for the priest to use. If a person was sick in the home, the priest visited the home to bless the sick person by saying a prayer, lighting the candles and annointing them with holy water. The holy water went in the little holy water "font" or bowl you see in the center.
This measures 11 inches tall and 7 3/4 inches wide.
It is in Excellent condition for being this old!! Only wear I see is to the chest of the Jesus and slightly around the base. A little rust there and the finish is flaking off. I have not attempted to clean this at all and will leave that up to the buyer.
Such a great collectible! It has a history to it and is still a useful and decorative item. Quite a conversation piece!
